Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's squad picked up the victory in the tournament featuring 00NATION, SAW, and Falcons.
The Brazilian squad that came together as Last Dance picked up secured the championship at the $22,000 OMEN WGR European Challenge 2022 after defeating Falcons in a nail-biting grand final.
The event lacked top-tier opposition as SAW ranked #42 was the highest-placed team in play, but Imperial will nonetheless enjoy the confidence boost from the result — especially seeing their countrymen 00NATION failed to advance from the group stage.
Imperial started off the group stage with wins over OFFSET and MOUZ NXT while losing to SAW, which resulted in a semi-final clash against MASONIC. The Danish team didn't go down easily, but Imperial mustered a 2-1 victory to advance to the grand final.
French side Falcons had a similar path to the final, which kicked off with an overtime game of Inferno. Lincoln "fnx" Lau's heroics (1.29 rating) were the difference-maker for the Brazilian side on their map pick, moving things to Nuke where Fernando "fer" Alvarenga stood out with a 1.44 rating to ensure a 16-14 victory.
Imperial's next confirmed events are the Americas RMR which kicks off on April 11, and the Pinnacle Cup Championship LAN in June, with the former event and making the PGL Major surely a priority. 00NATION will be competing at the same event, but head into it in shaky form having lost games to BLUEJAYS, Into the Breach, Young Ninjas, and MASONIC in the last 10 days.
